U.K.-based Time Out listed Hoi An ancient town in central Vietnam among 21 most romantic places in the world to visit on Valentine's Day.

"Hoi An's famous lantern-lined streets are an idyllic spot for twilight walks and candid conversations, backed by well-preserved historic Vietnamese architecture that tells plenty of stories," according to Time Out.

"The town's lantern boat rides are the thing of romantic dreams – a tremendous combination of natural delicacy and impressive confidence while Hoi An also has one of the best cocktail scenes in the country."

This year's Valentine's Day coincides with the 14th day of the first lunar month when the lights of the town are switched off and the only light comes from the lanterns floated on the iconic Hoai River.

For many years, Hoi An has hosted the lantern festival on the 14th day of each lunar month, which has become a tourism symbol of the 400-year-old ancient town.

The list compiled by editors of the U.K. magazine included Kyoto, Maldives, Montreal, Paris, Udaipur and Venice.

In 2019, Hoi An was named one of the most romantic places for a dating on Valentine’s Day.
